Rats are the staple food of most captive snakes large enough to take them as they are readily available and offer a good balance of usable nutrients for their size. As a result, snakes fed on rats tend to grow quicker and larger than those feed on mice or other rodents.
Most of my breeding rats are black or agouti (brown) in colour but occasionally I have fancy rats that breed too. Here are some hairless (Super Rex) weaners I recently produced:
